To commemorate Vijay Diwas of 1971, seven inspiring War Veterans who fought in the war for liberation of Bangladesh were felicitated by Major Akshay Girish Memorial Trust at a special event in Bengaluru.
The India – Pakistan war of 1971 came to be known as a landmark in the history of warfare. In a matter of 13 days, the Indian Army brought a formidable Pakistani army to its knees, took 93,000 prisoners and helped 75 million tormented people of then East Pakistan to liberated as a free nation – Bangladesh.
Major General Ian Cardozo AVSM SM, the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade was Guest of Honour. Air Commodore M K Chandrasekhar VM VSM of Flags of Honour Foundation was Chief Guest. The geo-political context and role of Indian Army in the 1971 war victory to liberate Bangladesh was set by Col D P K Pillay, Shaurya Chakra, PhD.

Families of martyred soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation were special invitees and also felicitated.
I was very impressed by the volunteers who selflessly managed everything so beautifully.’

Achievement Awards & Scholarships
Achievement awards aimed at recognizing effort and reward are at both school and college level.
Two students Diwakar Singh Yadav and Chaitan Trilokesh were felicitated with Achievement awards in 2019 for successful selection to OTA (Army) and NA(Navy) respectively.
Best Outgoing Student of Class 12 of Sri Kumaran’s Children’s Home – CBSE was awarded jointly to two students each, in 2018 & 2019. Shriya Shankar, Vibha K Nadig, Mallika Mukherji & Ananyan Sampat have been awarded a cash award and certificate from MAGMT.
Scholarships in collaboration with Jain University for students studying in their undergraduate studies
Students who are motivated to attempt joining the uniformed services and meet specific selection criteria are eligible to apply for scholarships. To ascertain eligibility of students in an academic year, a questionnaire is given to the eligible candidates to fill up after the workshop. Shortlisted students are put through an objective test and personal interview. At the end of the selection process, students are selected for award of Scholarship Purse at the end of the academic session. So far, 9 students, both boys and girls have been provided scholarship purse along with a certificate from the Trust.
