The Army has dedicated 2019 and 2020 to Next of Kin (NoK) of braveheart soldiers.
In the last two months we have seen many more of our courageous and committed soldiers fighting the enemy to their last breath in Kashmir and Ladakh. The irreparable loss for grieving families is immense and forever. While the Government and the Armed Forces do extend help, we have seen that not all families are able to access the benefits and support they need for a life of dignity and respect.
Vasantharatna Foundation for Arts (VRFA), Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust (MCTMMT) and Major Akshay Girish Memorial Trust (MAGMT), as primary stakeholder organizations working with the martyr families, plan to hold a National Consultation on Issues & Challenges Faced by Families of Battle Casualties.
The Consultation will focus on the challenges faced by the martyr families to access entitlements & services and also advocate for best practices.
If you are in touch with martyr families and willing to volunteer to make this initiative meaningful, please email [email protected] mentioning the subject ‘Consultation on Issues and Challenges Faced by Martyr Families.’
Although the 2-day consultation was first proposed to be held in Delhi in the first week of August 2020, it is likely to be postponed due to the prevailing Covid 19 situation. However, information collection and preparations for the consultation have been ongoing. New dates will be announced at the earliest possible.
